Money Saving Tip: Cancel Your Cable

Free_money_finance_money_saving_tip_coin_28Here's a money saving tip that every guy in America will hate -- especially since football season just started. But it's one that can add a bunch to your bottom line:

Cancel your cable, turn off the TV, and spend some time enjoying your family, friends, and the beauty of the world around you.  You’ll be surprised how much more time you have.  At $30 per month, this tip will net you $360 each year.

I've known people who've paid $90 per month for cable. That's just waaaaaaay too much. $30 per month is bad enough.

We don't have cable at all. If we did, all I'd do is sit around and watch five hours of TV per day (like I do at my parents house -- they have 500 channels). We get the local stations which includes ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, and the WB. That's more than enough for us. Yes, I have to miss several key sporting events per year because I don't get ESPN and I can't turn the news on at any time to see what's happening, but I do have more time with my family (which is better than TV by far anyway) and if I ever need a "what's going on?" news fix, I consult a little thing you may have heard of called the Internet. ;-)

I guess I am lucky. The condo building I live in has cable in every unit. Therefore, cable is included in my rent. However, I should watch less TV than I do!!!

I have been discussing canceling cable @ the happy rock.

Thanks for the encouragement. It is good to see other happy without cable.
