Money Saving Tip: Have an Off-Day Wedding

Want to save a ton of money on your wedding? Hold it on an "off" day -- any day other than Saturday.

Here are some some of the savings a local TV station found using this method:

• At Meijer Gardens, reserving a banquet room will cost you half on Sunday $700 compared to what it will cost you for a Friday or Saturday wedding $1,400.
• Boulder Creek Golf Club and Restaurant in Plainfield Township doesn't charge for the room on Sundays. That's compared to a cost of $200 for that same room on a Friday or Saturday.
• At Trillium Banquet and Catering in Spring Lake you save $2 per plate on the dinner for a Friday wedding compared to the same dinner on a Saturday or Sunday wedding.
• At Sunnybrook Country Club in Georgetown Township Sunday weddings are allowed to choose from the lunch menu compared to Friday and Saturday weddings where weddings can only choose from the dinner menu, a savings of up to $7 per guest.
• According to Scott Farrow of D.J. Specialists and Limousine, "[The best savings are on] Any day but Saturday!" Farrow says when booking his limo service on any day other than Saturday, you save twenty percent, or about $100 for two hours of the limo service.
• Farrow also says even more savings are available when booking the D.J. service, prices are negotiable on any day but Saturday.
• When it comes to saving on a photographer, flowers or tuxedos, there's really no advantage to booking your big day on an odd-day. However, according to new bride Lindsey Davies it saves on your stress. Davies says, "Your florist is not busy, the cake person was not busy, so just knowing that they weren't going to be flying around with four different weddings that same day was kind of a nice feeling."

Like 99.9% of the rest of the people in the U.S., we got married on a Saturday. But we did save a lot by using some other tried and true techniques (like the ones discussed here).
