The 10 Best Values in Public Colleges

I've written before about the value of an education and how going to college is one of the best moves you can make to grow your net worth. If you look at this as a financial investment, there's no doubt that you'll end up making much more than you spend if you go to college. However, there is a cost value relationship that you need to consider: if you can pay less to go to a college and still make as much as if you went to a more expensive school, then your return on investment is even better.

Here's Money Central's list of the top 10 values in education:

  1. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  2. University of Florida
  3. University of Virginia
  4. The College of William and Mary
  5. New College of Florida
  6. University of Georgia
  7. State University of New York College at Geneseo
  8. University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign
  9. State University of New York at Binghamton
  10. University of Washington

My school placed in the top 40, so that's not bad. And it was certainly worth the investment I made. If you want details on what going to college (namely grad school) did for me, check out The Value of an MBA.

I went to school near Geneseo; we raced them on a regular basis. RIT costs a lot more, though.
