I am not a stock-of-the-week hype-fest sort of guy (unlike the articles in many personal finance publications). I'm a slow and steady, invest regularly, and do it for a long, long time guy. It makes sense to me philosophically, from a time requirement standpoint, and from a practical standpoint (I've tried it the other way, and it just doesn't work to chase "potential winners"). As such, index funds are a big part of my personal portfolio and they've done well for me over the years.
