Save Money on Eating Out and Entertaining

Here's a piece from Yahoo titled 15 ways to live more cheaply. One of their suggestions I particularly like is as follows:

Keep yourself entertained. Don't want to forgo dinner parties? Host a potluck supper. Dying to go to the theater or to a major sporting event? Volunteer to usher and see the event for free, Horowitz said.

If you're the average American, you're probably spending a boatload of money every month on eating out, entertaining, and the like. But there are lots of ways to save money while still having a good time. The potluck and volunteering ideas above are good ones. Here are some more ways to have fun without crushing your wallet:
