Here at Free Money Finance, I've posted several ideas on how to save money while getting a college education. Even if it costs you a good amount of money, a college education is still worth the investment. But if you can get one for a little amount of money, it's even better. ;-)
Well here's another way to save on a college education -- this one on an Ivy League degree. It's from Money Central and suggests you skip Harvard and Yale and go to comparable schools in the U.K. The details:
If you're into prestige as well as a top-notch education, Oxford is right up there with Harvard. Yet consider this: An incoming freshman at Harvard College is looking at an estimated $185,800 for tuition and room and board over the next four years. The same student can earn a degree at Oxford in just three years for about $112,000 -- and that includes all school expenses, plus travel to and from the States.
The article goes on to talk about issues such as the advantages of a degree from Oxford, how to apply, and so on, so if you're interested in considering such an option, you'll want to check it out.
Let me get this right: You save over $70,000 and get the same degree? Hmmmmm. Let me think about this. It sounds like a no-brainer to me.

You also have to consider the cost of living increase. The UK is roughly twice as expensive to live than the United States.
I understand that room and board are included in your calculation, but what isn't included are all the other costs college students rack up while they are partying, studying, and exploring.
Even with these extra costs added in, it is probably still cheaper to go to Oxford, but whether it's worth traveling across the pond for would have to be a personal decision.
Of course, if you have your choice between Harvard and Oxford, I'm sure you're smart enough to figure all this out on your own! ;)
