I agree that investors that don't want to educate themselves in the market that they are investing in should use index or mutual. I still don't understand why people just dont try to replicate Berkshire's investment plan.

Just this morning a friend from work was telling me how proud on himself he was because his investment this year in Cisco has returned him 10.3%. I'm always advocating index funds. After his announcement, he somewhat sheepishly acknowledged the S&P 500 has returned almost 12%. Even if he doesn't act on it, at least he knows what he's missing. It's a start.

Which of course brings up the question, which index, or rather, indicies, since many asset classes are omitted from many.
