Anyone Loving the Market in April?

Just updated my net worth last night as I do every month and boy was April a GREAT month! I knew the market had done well, but I generally do not follow it closely day by day (otherwise it would drive me crazy), so I didn't know it had done so well. My current net worth is now only down about 2% for the year after being down almost 5% at the end of March.

I'll do a complete update at the end of the quarter (end of June), but just wanted to say "yea!" for at least one good market month out of the past several.

What software you use? MS Money or quicken?

I'm psyched too. I'm actually up 2.67% for the yr. I took a major, major hit in Jan and was up each month after that but didn't recover until now.

Quicken.

I haven't calculated my growth gains over 2008 for my 401(k) so far, but my actual gain (which includes the increase due to contributions) is 15.02%. Just in April, my balance grew by 9.44% That is a very nice change!

I'd agree with your assessment. My net worth was up in April and I think I'm back to or above my December/January numbers. But now I'm bummed because I was enjoying the bargain buying opportunities.

-Confessions of a Cheapskate Investor

I think I've finally found my investing Zen. I didn't panic when my portfolio fell during ... let's call them "The Dark Days." And now I'm not that thrilled that my portfolio did well in April. I managed to stay ahead of benchmark, so I'm a little pleased - but not too emotional one way or the other. This is exactly the mentality I want to cultivate, and I hope I can hang on to it. :)

We're down about 1% as we head into May, not counting contributions. Nobody's quitting their jobs yet!

Yea, my net worth jumped by a full month's pay. Too bad it was just getting back what I'd lost in Q1! I'd love to be up this much

Actually, I'm in buying mode, so I'd just as soon the market tanked again... ;-)

I'm loving the market. I'm more of a bear then a bull sometimes so I kind of wanted the market to keep going down. But I'm loving it anyway. I'm finding a lot of good buys. I Think this month will be quite profitable.

I am loving the market recently, especially the good start in May. As I have taken advice by continuing to buy while it was low, my dollar cost average is pretty good right now.
