Why Shopping Around for Car Insurance is a Good Idea (It Can Save You a Ton of Money)

Check out this comment left on my post titled Six Ways to Save on Car Insurance:

By shopping around every 6 months I was able to go from $730/6-month at minimum coverage (25k/50k on most of the categories) to $550/6-month with 4 times the coverage (100k/300k on the SAME categories).

On top of that, I have gotten better, and more personal, service. Explain to me how that works. I've actually been able to call and speak to a PERSON and ask what he thinks about how to handle claims even when they aren't on my policy.

Yep, that's why we shop out our car insurance on a regular basis. You never know what savings are out there unless you ask. In this case, she saved $360 AND got better coverage just for quoting her policy out. Not bad at all!

Yes and I saved $1900 by shopping around.

I actually have a post published for this coming monday that outlines how I saved $1400 per year on car/home insurance with no haggling whatsoever. I'm very pleased with it, but I still have to close the deal with the lump sum payment.

The insurance business is often cyclical. Evry couple of years there is pressure on premium reduction and thus companies offer good rates. So its imprtant that we shop around every so often.
