Check this out:
Stores will offer two pre-packed quarts of any Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavor for $9 and three quarts for only $12. The chain will also feature special ice cream flavors this fall, including Apple Pie à La Mode and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Ok, at the best price (buying three quarts) this equates to $8 per half gallon. You can buy that amount for much less at a grocery store -- or buy much more for the same price if you prefer. Not really a great deal, huh?

My favorite ice cream is Blue Bunny Natural Vanilla. Check the ingredients, nothing more than 2 syllables.

It's a subjective issue. To you, it is not, because you believe that you are comparing apples-to-apples. In reality, you are not. In order to make it more objective, you have to compare it to the regular prices for a quart of BR ice cream, and then you can determine if it is a deal or not.
Not everyone is going to agree whether it is worth it to them to have store-bought ice cream over BR ice cream.
Now if you could buy BR ice cream in the store, that's a separate story, because you are still doing an apples-to-apples comparison.

It seems like our grocery store is always running a 2 for $6 deal on 1.75 L ice cream. I know the quality is not the same but $6-$10 for 2 people to get a small dish of ice cream is a bit much. Sorry Coldstone and Baskin Robins, Albertsons has you beat!

Ryan S,
That means that there is no vanilla in it. ;-)

I agree with Nick. If you just want ice cream, you could find it much cheaper. You're paying a premium for the BR quality, which to some may be worth it.

Ha! I guess the definition of "premium quality" is up for debate!

IMO, the only "premium quality" ice creams are the ones which don't use fillers. If an ice cream feels lightweight and fluffy (more like whipped cream than ice cream), it probably has fillers in it. For me, Haagen-Dazs, Ben & Jerry's, and Blue Bell qualify as "premium quality." The other brands I see at stores tend to have a lot of fillers, preservatives, and artificial flavors.
