I would strongly concur with these three points. My wife and I found the same with the people we coached through our church regarding developing a budget.

Additional massive expenses:

• Raising a child through age 18 is estimated to cost $250K, not to mention college tuition.

• Divorce can slash your net worth by 50% or more.

• An estimated 80% of savings is spent on healthcare and related costs during the last two years of life.

Housing is an insanely high cost, especially for people living in big cities. I estimate that for most young adults, rent accounts for 50% of their expenses.
