I usually don't post about money news (though I plan to in the future), but I saw two articles on MSNBC.com this morning that I thought were important enough to pass along. They both deal with the security of financial records, a topic that's becoming increasingly important.
The first article is about the theft of 700,000 financial records from two major banks.
The second is about a check fraud scheme that criminals are using to steal money from checking accounts.
Needless to say, both of these articles are concerning and as such I wanted to let you be aware of them. In future posts we'll discuss keeping your information secure and what you can do to guard against identity theft.
Update: Time for the Outside the Beltway Traffic Jam.
Update #2: Outside the Beltway has a post on a woman who's taking extreme measures to get something done about identity theft.
