The only thing better than hearing about someone’s great bargain is being able to get that same deal yourself. Awhile ago I asked several smart shoppers from across the country to share their real-life suggestions on how to save a bundle. Here’s part 1 of what they had to say:
Be flexible when you travel
“My only son and his family live out of state, but we like to get together several times a year. So it’s important for me to save money on airfare whenever possible. I was recently planning a trip but the cost was over $330 to travel when I wanted. My daughter-in-law told me that I should try checking prices again but this time to be flexible on travel times, dates, and locations. So I called the travel agent back. After working together awhile, we found out that by taking an early morning flight (I can be a morning person to save some cash) and by flying into a city two hours away (my son wouldn’t mind picking me up), I could get the flight for $121! I took it in a heartbeat, and I’ll bank my savings for another trip!”
Total Savings: $209
