When I retired from education, I was making in the low forty's, with almost a doctorate! I never felt there was enough benefit pay wise to justify the effort/time to get the doctorate, so I stopped at the AA certificate. Hopefully, anyone thinking about a professional career will go into it with their eyes open as to the income potential. Everyone knows that educators are under paid, but I was surprised to see that architects don't make the big bucks.
