I don't know about your area of the country, but where we live babysitting costs a fortune. And that's assuming you can find a sitter who's at least semi-responsible. Well here's an idea that will not only save you money, but also cut down on the frustration associated with finding the right babysitter:
Eliminate (or lower) babysitting costs by starting a co-op with friends. Trade sitting times with a family or two. You’ll save $15 or more on each date – netting $180 a year if you go out once a month.
My wife does this quite often for day appointments she has. A friend will watch our kids while she goes out, then the next week they will trade roles. It works out great and the kids see it as fun since they get to visit their friends.
