Here's an easy money saving tip that will make your entertainment expenses a bit lighter:
Visit museums, zoos, planetariums and aquariums. Many have half-price or free admission days, and some offer unlimited visits with an annual membership. Remember, before investing in an annual membership, take your family at least once to be sure they would be interested in multiple visits.
My family has a membership to a local "gardens" that has been quite economical. We pay one annual fee and are there several times a year for their regular events, special exhibits, rose shows and the like. We also take guests from out of town there when they visit -- they love it! When you add up all the times we visit the gardens and the amount we pay, it probably costs us less than $2 per person per trip. In addition, since it's a non-profit organization, we get to deduct our membership fees from our taxes. Not bad at all!
We don't watch many videos but our local library actually has quite a few you can rent and they have books on tape as well. No cost as long as you don't keep them past your due date.
