Here's a great Star Money Article that I wish I would have written myself. It's from Wealthy Web and is titled Rule #1: Spend Less Than You Earn. The post is a summary of one thought from the book "The Richest Man in Babylon" and one that I can agree with 100%. To me, the key quote from this piece is:
My thinking was that I’ll just make more money to get all the stuff I could ever want. Problem is, spending less than you earn is an necessary discipline. It’s like eating well. No matter how much you make, whether its $2,000 or $2,000,000, if you can’t establish this discipline in your life you will forever play catch up. You will never seem to have enough.
The author then goes on to personalize this learning, telling how she applies it in her life.
It's a wonderful, simple post (and concept) but one that can really make a difference for people who grab on to the concept. Therefore, I give it a big Star.
That piece of advice is being burned into my brain. I suppose it is common sense, and something that I do when I can, but to make a habit of it is really important.
