“When I was buying appliances (refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher) for my new house several years ago, I shopped them out. I had a set allowance, but wanted get all of these items plus a washer and dryer for the amount I had budgeted. I went to one of the mass merchants and got an estimate for all seven items. I then went to their competitor and got another estimate based off of their “we’ll beat any price” deal. I went to the third place and did the same thing. Finally, I went back to the first place with my “best deal”. The deal was good enough that all they could do was match the price, offer free delivery and give me double warranties. So, I went with them and was able to get my washer and dryer essentially for free”!
