Ok, this one may be a little late in the summer season, but it's still warm somewhere in America, isn't it? Anyway, here's a money saving tip for entertaining your kids during hot weather:
Let your kids run through the sprinkler on a hot day instead of investing in an expensive pool membership for the summer.
We do this all the time and the kids love it. I set up two sprinklers so they get hit from a couple directions, plus I shoot them with the garden hose! (It's fun for all of us.) We've done this for several years. We did expand a bit this year and bought a $6 Slip 'n Slide which we used about 10 times. It was a great investment – especially when compared to a $100 pool membership!
Pool memberships are not just about getting wet. When I was a kid, our private pool used to have pizza parties, pool games, card games, basketball, tennis, and (most importantly) a supply of other kids to play all of the above with.

You realize, of course, that you cannot learn to swim in a sprinkler system.
