Here's a quick money saving tip that could net a few extra dollars for some of you:
If you rent, ask your landlord if you can do some handiwork or landscaping for your unit or other properties in exchange for a reduction in rent. Your savings with this tip could be anywhere from $50 to a month’s free rent!
One additional idea: offer to be an on-site representative for the landlord -- looking out for the property and so on. It's relatively easy yet something that's very valuable for an owner who can't be around every day.
You can also save money by helping your repairman.
Landlords! I'm sorry to say, that mine is basically a crook. He had the ordacity to charge a full-months rent as a "broker" fee for renting his own apartment! This "broker" fee cost us $1350.00. Unfortunately, we were in a position where we had to take this apartment due to the fact that the owner of the house that we used to rent an apartment in, sold the house. We were desperate at that point. Otherwise...no way!
I think that this is a terrific suggestion. Unfortunately, it would never work for us.
