Ok, it's a bit late for a holiday-related shopping post, but I wanted to get to this one for sure, so it's better late than never.
This piece from USA Today talks about how pets were expected to clean up with some pretty nice gift options this holiday season. Here are the highlights:
An estimated 31 million dog owners will buy gifts for their dogs, including indulgences such as high-tech gadgets and glittery accessories.
Holiday pet-gift sales rose 15% in 2004 over 2003, says Bob Vetere, chief operating officer of the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association. "By buying pets a human-type gift, we are making ourselves feel good and making them happy," he says.
Among the pet extravagances:
- Pet bling.
- Gadgets.
- Riding in style.
- Relaxing in style.
- Spa treatment.
I knew it! I knew it!!! I told you we'd see a pet health club (close enough to a spa) when I wrote Pet Acupuncturist a few days ago.
