Here's a great comment I received on one of the Career Intensity book giveaways I've been doing this month:
I've been reading up on this author and his statements about "making yourself a brand" ring so true. It's very hard when you are in a big company to get anyone to notice what you are doing, even if you're doing a bang-up job. Marketing yourself is not only good to get ahead where you are, but great practice when you want to move on in life and get that new job.
This person really gets it. You have to actively manage your career and not let it "just happen." If you do, you can have a tremendous, positive impact on your net worth. As this example shows, managing your career so that you "only" get a few more percentage points in pay increases a year can literally add up to millions of dollars more that you'll earn in your lifetime.
That's one reason I've been talking about career management, giving away copies of Career Intensity, and encouraging all of you to read and apply what the book says. It can (and will) make a big difference in your ability to grow your net worth.
