Im usually luckier than what I have been lately.

Thank you -- great site, encouraging, I've learned a lot -- and picked up some GREAT book recommendations. This one sounds dead on target for me; I lost a job due to not paying attention to my career.

My recommendation: when the job starts to get easy, start looking to train your replacement, and look around for where you're going next (you don't have to leave the company, but if your company doesn't provide the right direction for you, think about whether they might not need you). Once the job's easy, you'll find training your replacement fun, and your boss will be grateful and impressed. If you wait until after it's easy, you'll get bored and you'll forget what it was like to be new -- and worse, you'll become indispensible, and your boss will be annoyed when you leave.

Interesting book and a great review!
