Here's a money saving tip submitted by a Free Money Finance reader:
Buy wedding registry gifts very early.
The reader explained this by referencing his own personal experience over the past couple weeks: "With all the spring weddings I waited too long to buy the gifts and my options were (1) not get anything (which is not acceptable) or (2) spend 3x more than I wanted to since all of the rationally-priced items were already spoken for. I know a lot of people get busy and don't consider that making this mistake with four weddings, like I did, can be hundreds of dollars worth of difference."
I usually try to "get in early" for the same reason. If they are sold out of items in our budget range, we then usually go the "card and gift card" route as a substitute. Then you are sure you're getting them something they can use -- and it's easy to transport to the reception. ;-)
And while we're on the subject of weddings, be sure to check out Save on Your Wedding.
You can also give $ in the amount that you deem reasonable! It might seem impersonal, but as a soon-to-be-wed, I have to say, young couples love to get cash!
