Here's a money making tip I found in a very unusual place. It was in an ad that was mailed to me for one of these "sell your stuff on eBay" retail shops -- the ones where you take your stuff in, they sell it for you on eBay, and they take a portion (up to 35% -- yikes!) of it for their effort.
What I found interesting is this fact they quote:
According to a recent AC Nielsen study, the average American household has approximately 16 unused items worth nearly $2,200.
So the corresponding money making tip is easy:
Go through your house, look at the stuff you don't use (that's of value), sell it, and make $2,200!!!
Now some people may think that this estimate is a bit high. I don't. Why? Two words: 1) basements and 2) garages. Go in the average American home and look in their basement and garage. I guarantee you'll find TONS of good stuff in there that they aren't using. They could easily sell it, turn that stuff into good cash, and free up some space in their homes at the same time.

Yeah but if you are a pack rat like me, just because you aren't using it right now doesn't mean you won't still need it... in five years. =)
