I just finished a great little book (I say little because it's a bit smaller than a regular book in size and is only 150 pages), but it's full of great investment advice, principles, data, facts, studies -- you name it. The book is The Smartest Investment Book You'll Ever Read: The Simple, Stress-Free Way to Reach Your Investment Goals.
In short, the book says the same basic things as the book The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing (for details on The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing, see my review -- I LOVED it) and as my post titled Why I Like Index Funds (Updated). The summary: index funds are great investments featuring low costs and great returns as a result of the low costs.
The difference between The Smartest Investment Book You'll Ever Read: The Simple, Stress-Free Way to Reach Your Investment Goals and The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing is that the former is a bit more to the point and a tad "dryer" in writing style (though not boring by any stretch.) The latter gives a bit more detail and is written in a fun, whimsical tone but not so much as to get in the way of the data/information.
Personally, I found both books to be great, but I'd give a slight nod to The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing for the reasons noted above. That said, I still liked The Smartest Investment Book You'll Ever Read: The Simple, Stress-Free Way to Reach Your Investment Goals and highly recommend it. As such, The Free Money Finance rating for The Smartest Investment Book You'll Ever Read: The Simple, Stress-Free Way to Reach Your Investment Goals (based on my 0 thru 10 rating system) is: 8 Stars.
