One thing you can add to that list of ways to saving on banking is to not use a bank. Find a local credit union to join. They typically provide higher rates on investments like savings accounts, money market accounts, and CDs as well as providing lower rates on loans. They don't gouge you with fees either. My credit union hasn't raised a fee in over 15 years and they provide free checks if you have direct deposit. There is no monthly maintenance fee of any kind. This is an excellent way to save on banking.
