Totally agree. I think when it comes down to it, it's more of having the discipline to what you know you should do. I think I am financially aware, but awareness isn't enough - I need discipline to put it into action. The hard part is, the discipline to save & invest is more often than not internal, not external.

I would tell them to save and invest 15%. That one rule will keep them in good stead for when they get serious about it.
