One of the benefits of international investing is currency diversification as well.

Of course, there are few things in this world as boneheaded as basing investment decisions on 12 months of returns. You can't rewind the clock.

Oooh la la, love my internationals, Canada, Latin America - they really added some consistent zip to my retirement accounts. By the way, some have been producing excellent gains for 5 years and more!

The index includes a selection of stocks from 21 developed markets, but excludes those from the U.S. and Canada. The index has been calculated since 31 December 1969, making it the oldest truly international stock index. It is probably the most common benchmark for foreign stock funds.
