I LOVE to hear examples of how Free Money Finance is helping people better manage their money. Here's an email I received the other day:
Hey FMF, just wanted to drop a big THANK YOU for your post on asking for a discount a while back. It is time to start planning and booking for our anniversary vacation in August. We found a place we like at a price that I consider pretty steep: $175/night. Ever since I read that post, I have been asking for a discount for everything possible and this was no exception.
What did I get out of it? $150/night. Not a huge savings perhaps but to me it is. To go from paying $900 to paying $772 isn't too shabby. That's $128 more to feed the mortgage! This is a nice B&B by the way. Anyway, thanks again.
A 14% discount and $128 savings isn't bad, huh? Do that a few times a year on various purchases and you're talking some pretty good money.
In case you're all interested, here's some more on asking for a discount.
