I lived in Russia for 6 years. Absolutely incredible to see the economy boom all around me over the time period. I bought an apt which appreciated 122% in 3 years...a lot of us westerners accidentally made a lot of money on our housing investments. But after leaving Russia I decided I wouldn't invest in equities... Just too much corruption, and lots of business leaders dipping into the cookie jar, bogged down by bribes, etc. After making that decision I saw LETRX soar another 50%. But I still stand by that conviction. The safest way to invest in Russia for me would be to move there and do my own thing...like real estate, but that's about it.
