Here's an excerpt from the book The Frugal Millionaires: 70 millionaires anonymously share their ideas about money to help each other and you. Today we're seeing what the millionaires have to say about health. I've stated that your health is more important than money and the frugal millionaires agree.
FYI, these are some representative tips from The Frugal Millionaires. There are over 800 tips in the book. The frugal millionaires are only referenced by their initials. The author signed a confidentiality agreement that the millionaires' identities would never be disclosed in exchange for them saying whatever they wanted. If they chose not to have their initials used they were given the initials AFM which is an acronym for Anonymous Frugal Millionaire.
Here's the excerpt:
Wealth is no fun without your health. With 66.3% of Americans being overweight or obese it is quite the challenge to find ways to stay healthy. (SOURCE: Center for Disease Control, 2008). There aren’t a lot of good role models around.
The frugal millionaires do everything they can to stay healthy. They know that being healthy doesn’t have to be expensive, so they find simple and inexpensive ways to get their exercise.
-
AFM – “Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.” (From the movie Animal House)
-
AFM – Without health your money is worth very little, except that it might buy you a bit more (very expensive) time at the end of the road. Make good health a priority.
-
AFM – Investing in yourself is by far the best investment you can make – rest, exercise and proper fuel – this is NOT a cliché, this is an absolute fact.
-
ERK – Stay fit. Work out. It doesn’t have to cost a ton.
-
S&AW – This is just like saving money: be disciplined. Feeling good, looking good and having a strong financial portfolio – it’s all about a lifestyle commitment.
Great advice.
I figure my dog pays for himself and more by pretty much forcing me to walk him daily. We do 2 or 3 miles every day, blizzard, heat wave, or whatever. He's a tough guy.
I sincerely believe it's important to spend some time outdoors to get natural sunlight.

Hi,
Great post.
I agree. Health is wealth.
My aunt used to say...the two worst curses to mindkind are -
1.Bad health
2.No wealth

One thing I've been thinking about is the "time cost" of unhealthy eating.
In other words, if I go for that second brownie....I know I'll have to spend 30 minutes more on the treadmill.
Is one brownie worth 30 minutes of my life? The answer is NO! I consider wealth to have control of my time so healthy living is one the of the best ways to be wealthy from that perspective.
Thanks,

I agree. Being healthy also gives you a good state of mind. You are focused and happy in yourself...which then enables you to go on and make millions...if you are lucky
