I think you are confusing Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Veterans Day is to thank those who served. Memorial Day is to honor those who sacrificed all for us. They deserve their own day.

While I appreciate the sentiment expressed by HappyG, I think that any day we can remember our military.... those who have died serving our country as well as the sacrifices that were made by veterans is a good day. I feel the same about our men and women who are currently in harm's way and those serving our country throughout the world, enlisted and officers alike. (FMF, had to include officers in there as I think you forgot them in your post)
