For those of you new to Free Money Finance, I post on The Bible and Money every Sunday. Here's why.
Today I'm posting Proverbs 14:23, a verse that I always think of as the "get rich slowly" verse. From the NIV:
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Now the Contemporary English Version:
Hard work is worthwhile, but empty talk will make you poor.
And finally from the Message:
Hard work always pays off; mere talk puts no bread on the table.
It's not that those who work hard ALWAYS prosper, but as a general rule, those who work do well and those who don't work don't do well. For the most part, you are rewarded for the effort and skill you put into something.
I especially like the saying "mere talk leads only to poverty". This applies not only to work but to managing money as well. If you simply talk about what you're going to do, you get nowhere. But if you apply the few, simple principles that can dramatically grow your net worth, then your hard work will certainly pay off.
Thoughts and comments?
I've seen this happen before. There are people who talk a lot and have grand ideas but never put any action to them and they're no better off today than they were a year ago.

I like how your posts on Sunday are short but helpful.
