FMF, good info. Pittsburgh is like a hometown for me as I spent many wonderful years at school and work there. It's also the place I missed a great chance to retire REAL early so you can see why it will forever remain in memory (cautionary tale here: http://tenfactorialrocks.com/how-i-screwed-up-my-early-retirement/)

It's funny how these are all fairly large cities. I would assume smaller cities in the west or south would be more affordable. Our home only cost $145,000--housing is very affordable in most parts of Texas, so that was a win!
